The Bible Interactive DVD Game |
Company: | b Equal |
|
The Bible Interactive DVD Game from b Equal, and presented by The History Channel, is outstanding! This game is great for the novice Bible scholar, as well as the theologian. Each player chooses their character, then walks through the chapters answering questions, to be the first one to the finish line. If you answer correctly you move ahead. Answer wrong and you move backward. There are also bonus spot questions that allow you to advance further, faster.
Using great graphics, storylines and footage, this game will allow every player to learn a lot as they go, whether they are an adult or child. Because each player can choose their setting from beginner to advanced player, every one at every age and skill level can play together. We really enjoy this game as a family. It is great to kick back and enjoy, rather than another re-run of another movie that wasn't worth watching anyway. Now we can enjoy the time together, and experience the Bible and discovering it together. Makes for some great discussion during and after play, as well. This is a high quality game, that changes everytime you play and will be greatly enjoyed. A nice change from everyday bored (board) games. b Equal offers many great games to choose from. This is the only one I have personally tried, but by seeing the quality and fun of this one, I am sure the others will please as well. Jeremy Camp is the host of the show and has one of his videos on there as well. <<<- (2006) RETURN TO TOP |

Bubble Brain |
Company: | Patch Products |
|
Bubble Brain is not your typical group game - in fact, it is far from ordinary - but it IS hilarious!
For ages 10 and up, with 4 to 8 players, this game includes 336 pictures on 168 cards, a picture box, score pad, bubble pad, game board, 8 pawns, stickers and a set of rules. Use the game as it comes, or use the stickers with your own photos for a totally unique game, customized to your group of players. This is a lot of fun when playing with your kids - bring out their baby pictures or vacation photos and feature them in the game. And if you want to be real mean - wait until one of their boy/girl friends come over and then bring out their baby photos. They will never forgive you, nor forget the evening. The objective of the game is to guess who has written which bubble caption for the pictures presented. This is how you will advance on the gameboard (1 space forward for each correct guess) and this is where it gets fun! If your friends are anything like mine, the captions will have you on the floor laughing hysterically. You and your friends are sure to love this one. We have played it so much we ran out of score pads and bubble sheets. If you are tired of the same old same old, like we were - you will find this to be a refreshing change from the norm and a great way to host a fun night at your home. Your guests will enjoy the change as much as you, I am sure. Game play takes about 1/2-1 hr, depending on the group playing and how in depth the chit chat goes during game play. <<<- (2006) RETURN TO TOP |

Cross Over |
Company: | SJB Products |

We greatly enjoyed this game! In Cross Over it is a "GOOD THING" to "Lose your marbles!" The winner is the first player to remove all of their marbles from the playing board. To do this you will want to keep as many of your opponent's marbles on their side of the board.
Recommended for ages 5 and up but don't let this stop you from enjoying it as an adult! This is sure to please all ages. Available in the children's edition (shown) and also in a deluxe version, which is a wooden board version that would be best for adults... However, all ages may play either version and have the same amount of fun. A true combination of skill and chance. Each roll of the die changes your destiny. This makes for a true challenge in strategizing, as you will have to be flexible in your plans and look ahead to all possible scenerios to plan a win. Just when you think you have the edge, the next roll of the die changes it all. Each number rolled gives you different options in moving. Example: Roll a 1 - and you are given three options. You can remove two marbles from your own side of the board. You can add one marble to your opponents side of the board. - or - You can move three of your opponent's marbles back to the start line. --- The rules of rolling a #1 determines your move chosen - If you roll a 1 you must have 2 marbles on the board to take the option of removing them for a win. An easy to follow rule sheet is included. After playing a few games we caught on to which # went with which rule. Keeping the rule sheet handy until they are memorized makes it easy for all to determine their next move when they roll. We likened it to a game of UNO, except using a board game model rather than cards. The likeness was found with every roll meaning a different move rule, just as in UNO cards have different plays linked to them. Game play lasts approximately 20 minutes - depending on what the die determines in the amount of moves needed to win the game. The time passes quickly and you will find yourself playing again and again because it is addicting! The game comes packaged in a bright and attractive game box - Opening it up finds a game board the size of the box, with holes to place the marbles in - which pictures a pond for your frogs (marbles) to jump across. Our Scoring of the product was based on the following: The price is moderate. The product is experienced as advertised. The age recommendations are appropriate. The game is manufactured with quality. The instructions are easy to follow for anyone who is able to read. Our judges found that this game offers reinforcement in math skills, in several areas. The key area being when certain numbers are rolled the play may be split between two marbles. This uses basic math skills for players to determine which marble to move a certain number of spaces. Our judges also like the fact that it is a simple game yet fun for all family members of all ages - and plays on a level playing field for all, no matter what their age or skill level. <<<- (2007) RETURN TO TOP | Gold Award 2007 | Press Release | Company Profile |

This Seesaw game will have players saying HeeHaw! as they strategically place
their wooden cubes and stockpile their opponent with more cubes to play.
Each player starts with 22 cubes. Yellow and red cubes are large, while green and blue cubes are small and light. By stacking them carefully you can rid yourself of most or all of your cubes quite quickly ... Then when it tilts to the other side, whichever cubes fall off become your opponents challenge to rid themself of to win. First one with no cubes left, wins the game. Be careful! If any fall before the seesaw tilts to the other side, you must add them to your cube pile and play them in a future turn. This is a game that adults and children alike can play together. A steady hand and a little bit of strategy goes a long way. We found it to be a lot of fun and a game that only takes a few minutes to play, with a handy carry bag that allows it to be taken with you wherever you go. <<<- (2007) RETURN TO TOP |

Everything is done very tastefully so as not to offend. Please Note: This game is not suitable for church groups or very conservative groups. Recommended for 2-6 players, ages 10 & up. This trivia game is all
about the silver screen and while it has many easier to answer questions
mixed in, it also has some real stumpers that will be sure to invoke conversation as the group of players sort out the facts they know to discover the answer to the
question at hand.
A great game to take in the car, when you are traveling. Also great for small dinner parties or family gatherings. Everyone will enjoy this one, young and old. There are questions concerning recent movies and there are also some for the movies from the 50's, 60's and forward. 1000 questions - 250 cards. Swap! |

2-10 players, ages 7 & up. Swap is a fast paced card game that keeps all players on their toes. We found it to be best played with 3 or more players, however even two can play. In this game you match colors when laying down your cards. The object is to get rid of all your cards first ... but just when you think you are almost there, someone will decide to swap with you, and you have to start your strategy all over again... or someone plays a slap card, and all players race to slap the pile. If you miss the slap, you will have to pick up more cards. A very fast paced game that brings a lot of laughter and sighs. All ages will enjoy playing this one together.
Because it is a card game it is easy to take with you when you travel or visit.
Just be sure not to keep the neighbors awake at the hotel if you play on a trip.
Or at least ask them to join you.

Ten dice - a little luck - and you are set for a great game.
No one knows who will win until the game is over.
Your goal is to get 100 points. You get points by rolling green dice.
As long as you continue rolling green dice your turn continues and
so do your points ... Roll reds and your turn comes to an end.
A lot of fun for all ages 8 and up, and can be played by 2-6 players.
Our kids keep this game handy at all times and love to bring it out when we have a few minutes to spare. I think my husband and I enjoy it as much as they do and we will sit down together and play many times when the kids have gone to bed. <<<- (2006) RETURN TO TOP |

What I found when I opened this card game was a deck of cards with no words on them
to try and figure out - no letters to become acquainted with,
but animals. Every card is an animal that is easily identified
by young children. Cats, Dogs, Birds etc. This makes the game very user friendly for younger children, more so than many games.
Rules for five different games are included, and you can make up more as you go. The fun is in being creative and enjoying yourself. The games are all easy, so all ages can enjoy them and they range in style from solitaire to group games, so children can even play alone. Nothing fancy, but fun will still be had. I suggest this deck for young children who would be confused by a regular deck of cards. A fun little deck they can take with them to grandmas or play in the car. Once they learn the rules to all 5 games they will have something to do for hours. Games Include: Tricks Packs Quarto The Shelter 2 forms of Solitaire <<<- (2006) RETURN TO TOP |

Word Rummy Card Game |
Company: | Cadaco |
|
Word Rummy, By Cadaco, is a true hit. While it is great as an educational tool, it is also just fun to play. A great family game, homeschool help, or after school fun. Each player will be able to find a challenge in thinking up new words, and by using enough letters in their word, that it will make it harder for another player to STEAL their word! Adults will enjoy this as much as the kids and it is one of those games that all ages can play together, and still every playing person enjoy it!
Each player is dealt 7 cards. Player rotation is clockwise. 2 - 4 players may participate. Players must come up with a word that contains a minimum of 3 letters. Once a player has taken their turn, they draw more cards to equal 7 in their hand, and play changes to the next person in a clockwise position. After the first person has played their hand, from then on players may STEAL an opponents word. To steal you must be able to use the other persons entire word, plus add other letters to it, to form a new word of your own. If you do this, you move the opponents word to your play space. Players may also use one of their own words played, to form a new word by doing the same as one would in stealing. Use all of the cards from one word, and add more cards to it, to form a new word. If a player is unable to play a word, they may pick up one card from the draw pile, and discard one card. Play then moves to the next person. The player with the most points (most letters played), wins! The game comes with 98 letters, so as you can see by doing the math, if playing with only two people, this game can go for awhile ... Games with two people seem to last about 15 minutes. This will vary depending on who is playing, and their vocabulary and spelling skills. Word Rummy has proven to be a lot of fun and a bit of a challenge at times, for some players. As you would in Scrabble, be sure to challenge words you feel the spelling is incorrect on. <<<- (2005) RETURN TO TOP |

Zig Zag |
Company: | Educational Insights |
|
Zig Zag has quickly become a game that is played often in our home.
Siblings play against one another, parent against parent, and parent
against child. Everyone that plays it, enjoys it.
In this game, players are trying to align their 4 pegs in a row. (Like a 4 piece tic tac toe.) Your opponent is trying to do the same, and will try to block you from winning. You are laying roads (plastic playing pieces that fit into the pre-made tracks on the board), which serve as directional pieces, moving diagonally or straight across, to move to the next space. Once a road has been laid by one players color, the other player cannot use that road to move, so will have to find another way, to get to where they are going. This can create a true challenge. The nice part is, you can form a road across the board, to use later with other pieces, as once the road has been laid in your color, it is there to use again and again, and your opponent cannot use it. A lot of strategy and a little luck. All combined for a very fun, but not lengthy game. It takes approximately 15-20 minutes to play a game, and is only played with 2 players. If you are looking for a new game that will challenge you but allow you to play any age at the same level, try this one! You will usually find you have to change your course and strategy a few times in the game, to win. Once your opponent has caught on to where you are headed, they can make your life in the game a true challenge. However, vengence is sweet! <<<- (2005) RETURN TO TOP |
